A snowstorm in North Yorkshire, UK, has trapped several people in the Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in Great Britain, reports SuperExpress.
Guests who arrived for a pint last Friday have been stuck inside due to heavy snow. The pub is located 528 meters above sea level.
The snowstorm has made the roads impassable, and it looks like the guests will remain there for the entire weekend.
Initially, more than 30 people were trapped in the pub, including a four-year-old boy and a dog.
Since then, some guests have managed to leave. Nicola Hayes, the pub manager, said the atmosphere inside was surprisingly good.
"We are like one big family at the moment," she shared. "We’ve swapped phone numbers, shared life stories, and laughed and cried together."
The guests have spent their time playing games, watching movies, and even singing and dancing.
On Tuesday, January 7, a local farmer used a snowplough to clear a path to the pub.
Most of the guests were able to return home, but four people and six staff members decided to stay until the roads were safe to travel.
Despite the situation, they remain in high spirits, although no one knows how long they will be stuck.
The pub’s owner had arranged a helicopter to bring in new workers and take the stranded staff for a break.
Unfortunately, the weather was too bad, and the helicopter couldn’t take off.
British weather forecasters have warned that the next two nights could be the coldest of the year, with temperatures reaching minus 20 degrees Celsius.
Throughout the ordeal, the pub staff has refused to accept payment for drinks and services.
Instead, they have asked guests to donate to the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, a local charity.
It seems that, despite the snowstorm, the guests and staff are making the best of the situation, finding comfort in each other’s company.
