Robert Gullström, a Swedish family man, had to pull over to the side of the highway when his car's left rear tire went flat. As he was trying to replace the flat tire with a spare from the trunk, other motorists sped past him at high speeds.
His partner and young daughter stood nervously on a slope by the highway, watching him work and keeping an eye on the passing cars.
Robert had to frequently jump to the side to avoid the fast-moving traffic. "I was just half a meter away from them," he told Aftonbladet, referring to the inconsiderate drivers.
Urban Johansson, a truck driver, noticed the family and their broken-down car. He pulled over to the side of the road, turned on his hazard lights, and approached Robert.
"I'm here to protect you," he told the family man, allowing Robert to focus solely on changing the tire.
With Urban's help, Robert quickly replaced the tire. He later sent flowers and chocolates to the thoughtful truck driver. "He's one of the everyday heroes.
A big thank you to him. It was Friday afternoon; he probably just wanted to go home," Robert told Aftonbladet.
Urban explained to the newspaper that he was angered by the other drivers who didn't slow down as they passed the dangerous situation.
"I was angry and felt that I had to stop to protect him. It was an easy choice," he said.
