At least one person was killed and more than 110 others injured in a fresh wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine on March 24–25, even as ceasefire negotiations between the U.S. and Russia were taking place in Saudi Arabia.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Moscow launched a barrage of 139 attack and decoy drones, along with an Iskander-M ballistic missile.

While 78 drones were successfully shot down and 34 decoys vanished from radar without causing damage, the remaining assaults left devastation in multiple regions.

The northeastern city of Sumy bore the brunt of the assault. A missile strike injured at least 94 people, including 23 children, according to the city council. Most of the victims required hospitalization.

The attack damaged 26 buildings, including schools, a kindergarten, a hospital, and 16 residential buildings—a sobering reminder of the toll on civilians, even as diplomatic efforts for peace were underway.

Elsewhere in Sumy Oblast, three additional civilians were injured in separate attacks, regional authorities told the Kyiv Independent.

Widespread Damage Across Multiple Regions

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast also came under attack. A 36-year-old man was wounded in the Synelnykove district, and a 40-year-old man was injured in Nikopol, according to Governor Serhii Lysak.

In Donetsk Oblast, a civilian was injured in Lyman, Governor Vadym Filashkin reported.

In the southern Kherson region, one person was killed and six injured, while four houses were damaged in the strikes, according to Governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

Drone debris in Poltava Oblast caused a fire at an industrial site in the Myrhorod district, leaving two employees injured, with one hospitalized, Governor Volodymyr Kohut said.

In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, a man and a woman were reported injured in a Russian attack on the Zaporizhzhia district, according to Governor Ivan Fedorov.

The timing of the attacks is striking: they occurred just as U.S. and Russian officials were engaged in ceasefire talks in Saudi Arabia, aimed at establishing a 30-day truce and expanding it to include maritime peace in the Black Sea.
