Czech arms manufacturer Czechoslovak Group (CSG) and Ukrainian company Ukrainian Armor have announced a major collaboration to start producing 155mm shells and other large-caliber ammunition in Ukraine by 2025.

This new partnership was confirmed at the International Defence Industry Forum in Kyiv on October 2.

According to CSG, the aim is to bolster Ukraine's domestic defense capabilities amid the ongoing war with Russia.

Richard Kubena, CSG Defence’s commercial director, emphasized the importance of this deal for Ukraine’s military self-sufficiency.

“This initiative stems from CSG owner Michal Strnad’s vision to transfer and localize production,” said Kubena.

CSG will offer expertise and support to Ukrainian Armor for the production process, which will take place in both Czechia and Ukraine.

The goal is to manufacture 100,000 units of ammunition in 2025, with annual production exceeding 300,000 by 2026.

CSG has been a long-term supporter of Ukraine, delivering military equipment, including tanks and self-propelled howitzers, even before Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.

This latest agreement comes as part of wider efforts to ramp up Ukraine's defense industry, with other major defense companies also increasing their presence in the country.
