A City Under Siege
Odesa, a vital port city in southern Ukraine, has been under relentless attack as Russian drone strikes continue to devastate its infrastructure and civilians.
The latest wave of assaults has left thousands without basic utilities, further worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
As winter grips Ukraine, residents are struggling to survive without electricity, running water, and heating, underscoring the severe impact of the ongoing war.
Deadly Strikes and Widespread Damage
On Tuesday, a 77-year-old man in the suburb of Lymanka lost his life after being hit by shrapnel from a Russian drone strike, as reported by Digi24. The attack also damaged multiple homes and started fires in the city's outskirts.
In addition to drone strikes, a missile attack destroyed a vacant sanatorium near Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, south of Odesa. Further east, near Kyiv, drones struck a residential building in Borispil, breaking windows and setting a business on fire. Although authorities confirmed no casualties in this incident, the psychological toll on civilians remains immense.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
Odesa's infrastructure has suffered significant damage, leaving large parts of the city without power, water, or heating. The lack of these essential services is particularly alarming during the cold season, making survival increasingly difficult for residents.
Local officials and emergency responders are working tirelessly to restore utilities, but continued attacks complicate recovery efforts.
As Ukraine endures its third year of full-scale invasion, the strikes on civilian infrastructure highlight Russia’s strategy of targeting essential services to weaken resistance.
The international community continues to condemn these actions, with calls for increased military and humanitarian support to Ukraine.
For now, Odesa remains on edge, bracing for further assaults while struggling to recover from the destruction already inflicted.
