A proposal has emerged in Europe to ban all private and charter flights catering to the interests of Russian citizens or companies.

The move, outlined in the 14th package of sanctions, aims to further restrict access to the EU for Russians, reports Lenta.

Nothing is Immune

The restrictions would apply to any aviation services where Russian entities, whether legal or natural persons, are involved in determining take-off and landing locations.

This includes flights commonly booked by Russian businesses for leisure and corporate purposes.

The European Parliament has signaled its intent to develop additional sanctions against Russia, as announced on Friday, June 21.

Gunnar Beck, a Member of the European Parliament from Germany, stated that soon there may be no categories left immune to sanctions within Europe.

This move underscores the EU's ongoing efforts to ramp up pressure on Russia amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Tageting 27 Vessels

In a related development, the European Union is contemplating sanctions targeting 27 vessels, with a specific ban on their entry into EU ports. Eleven of these ships are registered in Russia.

Lenta reports this decision based on sources, indicating a concerted effort to expand punitive measures against Russian assets across various sectors.

This initiative marks a significant escalation in the EU's response to Russia's actions, aiming to tighten economic and diplomatic pressure through targeted sanctions impacting aviation and maritime sectors linked to Russian interests.

As the situation evolves, these measures could further strain relations between Russia and the European Union, with broader implications for international travel and trade dynamics.
