Explosions echoed across Kyiv as air defense systems engaged incoming enemy missiles, reported Kyiv's Military Administration via Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“The air alert remains active! Air defenses are working in the capital. Stay in shelters until the alert is lifted!” the message advised.
Earlier, authorities had warned that the alert was due to potential cruise missile launches from Tu-95MS aircraft, raising the risk of missile strikes on the city.
"As a precaution, Kyiv may implement emergency power outages due to the missile threat," added the Kyiv Military Administration.
At approximately 7:20, explosions were heard throughout the city.
“Explosions in the city. Air defense forces are active. Please stay in shelters!” Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko urged.
It’s worth noting that an air alert has been declared across all of Ukraine.
