A Russian drone strike hit the western Ukrainian city of Ternopil during the night of December 2, igniting a fire in a residential building and causing multiple casualties.
Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal reported that the drone struck the top floor of a high-rise, with flames spreading across several floors and partially damaging others.
The attack killed at least two people and injured several more.
Emergency teams worked throughout the night to extinguish the blaze and provide aid to those affected. Temporary shelters were set up for displaced residents.
"Doctors are doing everything possible to save the wounded," Nadal wrote on Telegram.
Ternopil, a city of about 225,000 people in western Ukraine, is located far from the front lines and has rarely been targeted during the ongoing conflict.
