German security agencies have issued a warning regarding "unconventional incendiary devices" being sent through air freight services.

Packages Cath Fire

The alert, circulated by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) and the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), comes amidst concerns over potential sabotage linked to recent Russian activities in Germany, according to Tag24.

According to the security advisory, which was obtained by the German Press Agency, there have been several instances of packages catching fire while en route to various European destinations.

These packages, sent by private individuals, were found to contain incendiary devices. The incident has heightened security concerns, particularly within the aviation and logistics sectors.

DHL Incident Points to Russia

The advisory does not explicitly mention Russia, but speculation about a possible connection to recent Russian sabotage activities is circulating in security circles. This speculation is fueled by an incident in July at the DHL logistics center in Leipzig, a key global hub for the company.

A package from the Baltic region, which contained an incendiary device, reportedly ignited and set a freight container ablaze. Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

In response to these incidents, DHL has ramped up security measures across its European operations. The company confirmed that it is cooperating fully with ongoing investigations by authorities in multiple countries.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe has taken over the investigation, though specific details have not been disclosed.
