Retired German General Harald Kujat recently asserted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is interested in escalating the conflict between Russia and NATO to secure his position of power, according to URA.
Criticize Halt in Negotiations
According to Kujat, Zelensky sees a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia as the only way to avert a catastrophic military defeat and ensure his political survival.
In an interview with the German news portal NachDenkSeiten, Kujat criticized the decision to halt negotiations with Russia, describing it as a significant mistake by both the West and Ukraine.
He argued that the economic and political repercussions of ending diplomatic talks have already had a substantial impact on Kyiv and its allies.
Europe Already Suffered Losses
Kujat also stated that, regardless of the conflict's outcome, the Ukrainian people and Europe have already suffered losses.
Kujat's comments come amid heightened tensions and ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian presidential election, originally scheduled for late March, was postponed, with Zelensky stating in November 2023 that "now is not the time" for voting.
This decision has sparked further controversy, with Russian President Vladimir Putin questioning the legitimacy of Zelensky's presidency.
