Germany has ramped up its support for Ukraine with a new military aid package aimed at bolstering Kyiv’s defense capabilities.
Announced on October 17, the package includes a wide array of armored vehicles, artillery, air defense systems, and munitions
Among the highlights of the package are eight Leopard 1 A5 tanks, accompanied by spare parts, as well as 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, which also come with spare parts and ammunition. Additional supplies include ammunition for both Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks, reinforcing Ukraine’s armored forces.
Germany has also provided critical air defense assets, including an IRIS-T SLS short-range air defense system and an IRIS-T SLM medium-range system, both equipped with missiles. These are designed to protect Ukraine’s infrastructure and military targets from aerial threats.
Other contributions include four MRAP armored vehicles, six Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers, and 15,000 rounds of 155mm artillery shells. To assist with reconnaissance, Germany delivered 30 Vector drones and 360 SONGBIRD reconnaissance drones.
In a further show of support, Germany has equipped Ukraine with anti-tank capabilities, sending 3,000 RGW 90 grenade launchers, 460 MK 556 assault rifles, and 90 sniper rifles, among other weapons. Winter gear and medical supplies, such as 75,000 tourniquets, were also included to ensure Ukrainian troops are prepared for the colder months ahead.
