The war in Ukraine has lasted for more than two years, drawing in outside support on both sides.
Western nations have provided Ukraine with weapons, financial aid, and intelligence, while Russia has sought military assistance from its allies.
As the conflict continues, reports indicate that foreign troops are playing a growing role on the battlefield.
North Korea has been accused of sending soldiers to support Russian forces, raising concerns about their involvement and the conditions they face.
Advance Over Open Field
A video circulating on social media appears to show North Korean soldiers engaging in combat in Russia’s Kursk region. According to Ukrainian military bloggers, the footage captures an attack by North Korean troops.
The video shows several dozen soldiers advancing across an open snow-covered field without cover. Explosions erupt around them as they attempt to assault a position, according to Digi24.
A user on the social media platform X commented:
"Open field and machine guns. We are back to World War I." Another user described it as "what the Pentagon calls kinetic engagement in a high-density personnel area."
Reports from South Korea suggest that North Korean forces have suffered heavy casualties. According to South Korean lawmaker Lee Seong-kweun, citing the country’s intelligence services:
"Estimates show that the number of casualties among North Korean forces has exceeded 3,000, including about 300 dead and 2,700 wounded."
South Korean intelligence also claims that North Korean authorities have pressured their soldiers to avoid capture at all costs.
"Notes found on dead soldiers show that North Korean authorities pressured them to commit suicide," said Lee. He further stated that some were instructed to "blow themselves up rather than be captured."
Ukraine, the United States, and South Korea have accused Pyongyang of sending over 10,000 soldiers to support Russia’s invasion.
The situation has drawn international attention, raising questions about North Korea’s role in the war and the conditions under which its troops are fighting.
Ukrainian special forces recently released a video showing a North Korean soldier detonating a grenade as Ukrainian troops approached.
These reports suggest the extreme conditions North Korean forces are facing on the battlefield.
