Iran is gearing up to deliver hundreds of ballistic missiles to Russia, according to anonymous sources cited by Reuters.

Strengthening Alliance

According to Tech this significant arms shipment, involving the Fath-360 missile system, highlights the deepening military cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.

Recent developments underscore the strengthening alliance between Russia and Iran. Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu recently visited Tehran, meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Discussions focused on expanding bilateral partnerships aimed at global security and peace.

Analysts noted Tehran's interest in acquiring Russian S-400 air defense systems, a request reportedly favorably received by Moscow.

Exact Number Unknown

The anticipated missile delivery includes the Fath-360 and another Iranian-made ballistic missile system from the Ababil enterprise.

The exact number of missiles remains unspecified, but sources indicate "hundreds" are expected. In preparation, dozens of Russian soldiers are currently in Iran, receiving training to operate these advanced systems.

The Fath-360, also known as the BM-120, is a relatively new addition to Iran's arsenal, announced in 2022. It is a short-range tactical ballistic missile designed for flexibility and efficiency.

Weighing approximately 790 kg, with a warhead mass of 150 kg, the Fath-360 measures nearly 5.2 meters in length and has a diameter of almost 40 cm. Its effective range is about 120 km, with speeds reaching Mach 3 (over 3,600 km/h) and impact velocities of Mach 4 (nearly 5,000 km/h).

The U.S. has declined to confirm these potential missile transfers, but NATO allies are prepared for a swift and strong response should the delivery occur.
