Conflicts in the Middle East continue to claim civilian lives as military operations escalate. The humanitarian crisis deepens with each airstrike, raising concerns about civilian safety, access to aid, and the broader geopolitical implications of the ongoing war.
Heavy Casualties in Latest Strikes
Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on Wednesday resulted in more than 70 deaths, increasing the total number of casualties to over 470 since the conflict resumed on March 18, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmud Basal.
As reported by 20minutos, the hardest-hit areas included Gaza City and northern regions, where seven separate attacks killed over 50 people.
Southern areas were also impacted, with at least 20 fatalities reported in Rafah and Khan Younis. Among the victims were children and entire families, further worsening the humanitarian toll.
Attacks on Civilians and Infrastructure
Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted residential buildings, killing eight people in Abasan al-Kabira, Khan Younis.
Another 10 civilians died in a separate strike on Rafah. Additionally, a bombing at a funeral gathering in Beit Lahia resulted in 14 deaths, according to local journalists and the Indonesian Hospital in the area.
The Israeli military, responding to inquiries from EFE, claimed that some of the casualties were militants but did not provide evidence to support this assertion.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
Basal warned that people remain trapped under rubble, with rescue efforts hampered by a lack of heavy equipment. He also emphasized that Israel’s continued closure of border crossings for 18 consecutive days has severely restricted the entry of fuel and humanitarian aid.
The situation raises fears of further disruptions to rescue operations and a worsening hunger crisis among Gaza’s residents.
As the conflict intensifies, international pressure grows for an immediate de-escalation to prevent further civilian casualties and alleviate the deepening humanitarian disaster.
