Russia has launched a record-breaking 145 drones toward Ukraine in a single night.
Tracking Shahed Drones
Ukrainian air defenses managed to down 62 of them.
According to Ziare, an additional 67 drones were lost after being electronically jammed, while 10 strayed from Ukraine’s borders into Moldova, Belarus, and back into Russia.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported detecting and tracking these drones, which included attack UAVs of the Shahed type as well as unidentified drones coming from Russian regions such as Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Orel, Bryansk, and from Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea.
Drones were intercepted over multiple regions, including Odesa, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk.
Approach From Multiple Directions
Throughout the night, explosions were reported in Kyiv, where witnesses observed air defense systems engaging incoming drones.
In Odesa, the drone attacks caused damage to apartment buildings and private properties, prompting local authorities to urge residents to take cover.
The attack was part of a broader offensive, with drones approaching Ukraine from multiple directions, including the Black Sea. Air raid sirens and alerts were activated across Kyiv, the surrounding region, and eastern Ukraine.
As Odesa’s regional administrator Oleh Kiper reported, “The enemy is attacking Odesa and its region with combat drones. Our air defenses are at work. Please stay in shelters!”
This assault followed previous attacks targeting Ukraine from the north and south. The wave of drones affected several Ukrainian regions, including Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, and beyond.
