On August 28, Israeli forces carried out a large-scale raid in the West Bank, targeting the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm, among other areas, reports Reuters.

This operation, one of the largest in recent months, involved helicopters and drones and resulted in the deaths of at least nine Palestinians, according to local authorities.

The raid came amid ongoing conflicts involving Hamas in Gaza and heightened tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israeli forces have been conducting raids to counter Palestinian militant groups in response to increased attacks in recent months.

In Jenin, there were reports of explosions, particularly in the crowded refugee camp adjacent to the city. Nearby, a drone strike resulted in the deaths of three suspected militants, with blood and debris visible at the site.

The Israeli military had surrounded Jenin’s main hospital, blocking access to prevent militants from seeking refuge there.

The military stated that the operation aimed to address a sharp rise in militant activity, with over 150 attacks involving shootings or explosives reported from Tulkarm and Jenin in the past year. The operation is part of a broader strategy to prevent further attacks.

In addition to the raids in Jenin and Tulkarm, Israeli forces also struck the town of Far'a near Tubas, killing at least four people. Local resident Masoud Naaja described the chaos and injury he experienced during the strike.

Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war nearly 11 months ago, clashes have intensified, leading to over 660 Palestinian deaths and 30 Israeli deaths. The conflict has caused significant displacement and suffering, with ongoing international efforts seeking a ceasefire.
