Ukrainian special forces recovered a notebook from a North Korean soldier who had been killed in Russia’s Kursk region, according to WP.
Methodical Approach
This soldier was reportedly part of a special unit. He documented instructions on counter-drone tactics and methods to survive artillery strikes in the notebook.
The notes describe a methodical approach to shooting down drones.
One person is tasked with attracting the drone's attention from a distance of seven meters. Meanwhile, two marksmen position themselves 10-12 meters away, ready to fire when the drone hovers.
Whether this tactic originated in North Korea or was adopted from Russian forces remains uncertain.
Another section provides guidance for surviving artillery bombardments. Soldiers are advised to split into smaller groups and leave targeted zones immediately.
Intriguingly, it also recommends taking cover in locations previously hit, citing the low likelihood of repeated strikes in the same area.
This discovery offers a glimpse into the collaboration between Russian and North Korean forces.
It also coincides with new intelligence suggesting that North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, initiated the deployment of his soldiers to Russia.
Initial interpretations saw this as a desperate plea from Russia, but reports now suggest Kim approached Vladimir Putin first. Analysts believe Kim is looking to secure future favors from Moscow.
