Norway has announced a $107 million commitment to enhance Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, the Norwegian government confirmed on February 12 in a press release.
The funds will be used to purchase air defense systems from the United States through the American JUMPSTART program.
Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik informed Ukraine’s delegation about the contribution during a Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting held in the Ramstein format.
This funding is part of Norway’s $2 billion military aid package for Ukraine in 2025, provided under the Nansen Program.
“Europe must do more for Ukraine, and Norway stands by that commitment. Air defense remains Ukraine’s most urgent military need, essential for protecting both military and civilian infrastructure, as well as the Ukrainian population,” Sandvik stated.
The minister also highlighted that in 2024, Norway had already provided over $575 million in air defense assistance to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has been exploring closer cooperation with Norwegian defense company Kongsberg, a key supplier of NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine.
