Latvian Court Upholds Prison Sentence for Activist Promoting Russian Aggression

Trending Now

The Vidzeme District Court in Latvia has sentenced pro-Kremlin activist Elena Kreile to one year in prison for justifying genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity and peace, according to "Nastoyastchee vremya," as reported by Ukrinform.

Kreile was found guilty of endorsing Russian aggression against Ukraine by using symbols such as the letter Z, which represents Russian military actions.

She also openly supported the Russian invasion and frequently organized provocative events.

Initially, Kreile was sentenced to one year of probation for these offenses last fall.

However, the court has now converted this probation into actual imprisonment.

Kreile has the option to appeal this ruling to the Supreme Court.

In a separate case, Kreile was also sentenced to three years in prison in July for publicly endorsing Russia's aggressive actions.
