Russian President Vladimir Putin has firmly reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the military, declaring it a top priority for the 2025 state budget.

Critical Need for Sustained Support

During a recent meeting with Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, Putin underscored the critical need for sustained and robust support for the armed forces amid ongoing conflicts, according to URA.

“Ensuring the stability of our Armed Forces, their development, and providing them with modern equipment, weapons, and ammunition will be a priority for the upcoming autumn session,” Putin emphasized.

This statement reflects Putin’s determination to maintain military strength and readiness, despite speculation about political shifts or leadership changes.

Putin Praises Lawmakers

The discussion followed the end of the spring legislative session, where Putin praised lawmakers for their efforts, noting the passage of over 300 laws. He thanked them for their diligence and signaled that the focus on defense would remain unwavering, especially given the current geopolitical climate.

Dmitry Yelovsky, Director of the "Actor" communication agency, highlighted that Putin's remarks are closely tied to the federal budget formulation process. “The budget will certainly include allocations for defense, state defense orders, and support for soldiers and their families,” Yelovsky noted.

Oksana Dmitrieva from the State Duma Budget Committee noted that there is a consensus on defense spending, given the ongoing military operations. She also pointed out that military expenditures have positively impacted the broader economy by boosting various industrial sectors.
