In a recent statement, Russian State Duma Deputy Andrei Krasov expressed skepticism regarding the impact of the U.S. decision to supply F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

We have Excellent Defense Systems

Speaking to Lenta Krasov emphasized that while the delivery is significant for Ukraine, the aging jets will not drastically alter the military situation.

"Yes, of course, this is an important supply for Ukraine. But these jets are not new; they have fairly outdated characteristics. Moreover, Russia also has aircraft and excellent air defense systems to combat these flying machines," Krasov noted.

Exacerbates the Conflict

Krasov also argued that continued Western arms supplies only exacerbate the conflict, hindering the prospects for peace.

"The U.S., by gathering weapons from across Europe, does not want the fire burning in Ukraine to die down. My advice to American colleagues is to stop stoking this fire and instead consider bringing [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky to the negotiating table," he added.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the U.S. has already sent F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, with these aircraft expected to be operational with the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the end of this summer.
