Russian President Vladimir Putin and top officials have accused Western nations of supporting Ukraine in its recent attacks on Russia’s Kursk region.

Involved in Planning and Developing

According to Vladimir Dzhabarov, the first deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council’s Committee on International Affairs, Western countries may have played a significant role in planning and executing the Ukrainian assault on the border area.

In an interview with the Russian media outlet Lenta.ru, Dzhabarov suggested that the West not only funded but possibly orchestrated the attack.

"I wouldn't be surprised if we later find out that the West was involved in planning and developing the entire operation," Dzhabarov said.

He further accused Western allies of Ukraine of turning a blind eye to what he described as "terrorist manifestations" by the Ukrainian government, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Strong Retaliatory Measures

Dzhabarov emphasized that the West would continue to defend Ukraine, even if evidence of chemical or biological attacks by Kyiv emerged.

He called for strong retaliatory measures to ensure that Ukraine loses any desire to cross into Russian territory again.

On August 12, Putin echoed these sentiments, stating that Ukraine's attacks on the Kursk region were an attempt to strengthen its position in any future negotiations.

However, he dismissed the idea of talks with Ukraine, citing the indiscriminate nature of its attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure.

"What is there to discuss with those who strike at peaceful people and threaten nuclear facilities?" Putin remarked, signaling a hardline stance against engaging in dialogue with Kyiv.
