Russia carried out a large-scale drone attack on the Kyiv region overnight, killing one person, injuring at least two others, and setting multiple homes on fire. The assault, part of ongoing strikes on Ukrainian cities, triggered air raid alerts for several hours.
Civilian Casualties and Damage
According to Mîkola Kalaşnîk, the governor of Kyiv’s surrounding region, emergency responders found the body of a civilian in a house that caught fire during the attack. Two others, born in 2005 and 1981, sustained injuries in the Bucha district and are receiving medical treatment.
As reported by Digi24, Ukraine’s emergency services released images and videos showing firefighters battling flames in what appeared to be residential buildings and garages.
Air Defenses Engaged
Throughout the night, witnesses reported hearing explosions in Kyiv and nearby areas, likely caused by air defense systems intercepting incoming drones. Ukrainian authorities placed the capital and the eastern half of the country under extended air raid alerts, beginning at 10:00 PM local time on Tuesday.
The attack underscores the continued Russian assault on Ukrainian urban centers, as Moscow intensifies its drone and missile strikes. Kyiv remains a primary target, with Ukrainian defenses struggling to counter the persistent bombardment.
