On Tuesday, Russia stated that any peace plan for Ukraine proposed by a potential future administration led by former President Donald Trump must reflect the realities on the ground.
According to Digi24 Russian President Vladimir Putin remains open to discussions, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
Two of Trump's key advisors have presented him with a plan to end the war in Ukraine if he wins the presidential election.
The plan involves urging Ukraine to start peace negotiations in exchange for more American weapons, while simultaneously warning Moscow that refusal to negotiate would lead to increased U.S. support for Ukraine.
Kremlin Seeks Concrete Details
"The value of any plan lies in its nuances and consideration of the actual situation on the ground," Peskov told Reuters.
He emphasized that the Kremlin is unaware of the specifics of the proposed plan.
"President Putin has repeatedly stated that Russia has been and remains open to negotiations, considering the real situation on the ground," Peskov reiterated.
He added that Russia remains open to negotiations but needs to familiarize itself with the plan before making any evaluations.
Previous Peace Proposals Rejected
Peskov noted that recent peace proposals from Putin have not been accepted by either the West or Ukraine.
This ongoing conflict has seen multiple attempts at peace negotiations, but none have led to a resolution.
The Kremlin's position indicates a cautious approach to any new proposals, emphasizing the need for a plan that acknowledges the current realities of the conflict.
