In recent months, global tensions surrounding the war in Ukraine have only intensified.

With the situation at a boiling point, the role of the United States has come under scrutiny. U.S. military aid has been a significant part of Ukraine's defense against Russia’s ongoing invasion.

However, a shift in American policy may change the dynamics of the conflict. This change came after a clash between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, the Kremlin welcomed the possibility of a halt to U.S. military aid to Ukraine, calling it the best way to contribute to peace.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that halting the arms deliveries would encourage Ukraine to engage in peace talks, according to Digi24.

He acknowledged that the United States has been a major supplier of arms to Ukraine. If these supplies were to stop, Peskov suggested that it could lead to a positive shift in the war.

Trump, who recently spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reversed his stance on the war.

He argued that continuing to support Ukraine could lead to World War III. Trump also stated that Ukraine had “no more cards to play.”

This stance deepens the rift between Trump and Zelensky, who had once been allies in the effort to combat Russian aggression.

Despite the cautious optimism from Moscow, Peskov emphasized that the Kremlin was waiting for more details on the suspension of U.S. aid.

He acknowledged Trump’s peace intentions, but said it remained to be seen whether those intentions would be followed through in practice.

Peskov’s comments reflect the uncertainty surrounding U.S. foreign policy and its impact on the ongoing war.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, and the war has led to severe consequences for both nations.

Russia currently controls significant portions of Ukrainian land. The outcome of the conflict remains uncertain, and the role of foreign powers like the U.S. will continue to shape the future of Ukraine and its struggle for independence.
