Around 9 pm, Russian forces targeted downtown Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs, striking the historic Derzhprom building and a medical institution.
Oleh Syniehubov, Governor of the Kharkiv Region, reported that at least six people were injured.
Preliminary data indicates that several floors of the Derzhprom building were destroyed.
Derzhprom, one of Ukraine’s earliest skyscrapers, was the largest in the USSR and the second largest in Europe upon its completion in 1928, standing 108 meters tall with its antenna.
This iconic Kharkiv landmark, a symbol of the city and an architectural monument, houses various civil facilities.
In September 2023, the UNESCO Committee included Derzhprom on the International List of Cultural Property under Enhanced Protection.
