Russia has announced a strong response to the recent incursion by Ukrainian armed forces into the Kursk region, warning that Ukraine will face severe consequences.

Everyone Severely Punished

Anatoli Antonov, the Russian ambassador to the United States, stated:

“I can assure you that President Putin has made a decision. I am firmly convinced that everyone will be severely punished for what has happened in the Kursk region.”

The conflict escalated on August 6, when Ukrainian forces launched a significant attack in Kursk, prompting the Russian government to declare a federal state of emergency and repeatedly cite rocket threats in the area.

In response to the ongoing situation, over 115,000 residents have been relocated from dangerous border areas, according to Denis Manturov, the Russian First Deputy Prime Minister. Meanwhile, interim governor Alexei Smirnov reported that more than 133,000 people have fled the Kursk border zone.

Ukraine Controls more than 1,000 square kilometers

Temporary housing centers have been established in 29 regions for those displaced by the conflict.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ukraine has suffered significant losses, with over 4,700 soldiers and 68 tanks reportedly lost since the beginning of the military operations in Kursk.

The Russian military claims that operations to destroy Ukrainian military formations are ongoing.

While Ukraine has not released official figures regarding its losses during this offensive, reports indicate that the incursions have penetrated over 30 kilometers into Russian territory. Ukrainian forces are said to control more than 1,000 square kilometers of land and nearly 100 localities.
