Ksenia Karelina, a 33-year-old Russian-American, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Russian court for what is being described as an act of treason.

Severe Consequences
Upon learning of her donation, the Federal Security Service (FSB) detained Karelina, accusing her of treason. The Russian government has taken a hardline stance against any form of support for Ukraine, which is currently engaged in a protracted and contentious conflict with Russia.
