The Russia-Ukraine conflict, ongoing since 2014, emerged from Russia's annexation of Crimea and subsequent support for separatist movements in eastern Ukraine. Tensions escalated into armed conflict, marked by battles in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
International condemnation and sanctions followed Russia's actions, while ceasefires and peace negotiations have seen intermittent progress amidst ongoing military engagements.
