A group of Russian military medics was ambushed by a Ukrainian reconnaissance unit.

Injured Soldiers Succesfully Evacuated

Despite their primary mission of providing medical aid, the medics were forced to defend themselves, engaging in a firefight while tending to wounded soldiers. The incident was reported by a military doctor using the call sign "Frigate."

According to Lenta the medics managed to provide critical care to the injured soldiers and successfully evacuated them, even as some of the medical personnel sustained injuries themselves.

Additional forces were called in to assist with the evacuation, and the wounded were eventually transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Civilians as Shields

The military doctor noted a significant difference in the types of injuries sustained by soldiers in the Kursk region compared to other areas of the conflict.

He highlighted that most injuries in this region were gunshot wounds, a result of intense close-quarters combat with Ukrainian forces. This contrasts with other fronts where shrapnel wounds are more common.

In a related development, Major General Apti Alaudinov, the commander of the Akhmat special forces unit, accused Ukrainian forces of committing atrocities against civilians in the Kursk region.

He claimed that Ukrainian soldiers had executed civilians, shooting them at close range. Alaudinov expressed deep sorrow over these incidents and vowed to seek retribution.

Additionally, Alaudinov alleged that Ukrainian forces were using civilians, including children and teachers from an orphanage in the region, as human shields.

He described how Ukrainian soldiers occupied the first floor of the orphanage, forcing the children and staff to stay on the upper floors, effectively using them as protection.
