Vladimir Soloviov, a Russian state TV host and vocal supporter of President Vladimir Putin, recently urged attacks on U.S. infrastructure.

A Stalin Strait

Soloviov suggested these attacks would be warranted if the U.S. were to pressure Moscow over the war in Ukraine.

On his Russia-1 talk show, Soloviov warned that any American ultimatum could result in a “Stalin Strait in the middle of America.”

The phrase references the Tatar Strait, once named after Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. Soloviov used it as a metaphor for large-scale destruction in the U.S, according to Digi24.

Destroy Every Dam

This extreme rhetoric follows the recent election of Donald Trump as U.S. president. Trump has claimed he could negotiate a peace deal between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “within 24 hours.”

Trump’s approach has drawn international attention, as many await to see how he will handle the conflict.

Soloviov’s call for aggression went further. He suggested Russia “destroy every dam, every hydro system” if the U.S. acts against Moscow.

He also repeated past claims that Ukraine should be “cleansed of Nazi garbage,” calling Ukraine “a country that simply does not exist.”

This reflects Putin’s earlier claim that Russia invaded Ukraine to “denazify” it — a narrative widely rejected by Ukraine and the West. Ukrainian President Zelensky, who is Jewish, has dismissed this portrayal.

Soloviov is known for inflammatory statements. In early 2023, he suggested that the U.S. should be “wiped out” for supporting Ukraine.
