The activity of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempting to enter Ukrainian territory has decreased, although the threat persists in all border areas, with occasional border-crossing attempts still being recorded.
This update was shared by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, during a televised address, according to Ukrinform.
"While the activity of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups and their attempts to infiltrate our territory have significantly declined, the threat remains for all border regions, and we continue to document such attempts," Demchenko stated.
He further explained that, in addition to gathering intelligence on the location of Ukrainian soldiers and the structure of defense lines, saboteurs often try to plant mines to harm Ukrainian defenders in the future.
Referring to the Chernihiv area during the early days of the full-scale invasion, Demchenko stated that Russian forces had employed sabotage activities to exert psychological and informational pressure on residents of temporarily occupied territories.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, on January 19, Ukrainian Defense Forces recorded 189 combat clashes with Russian troops, with the enemy focusing its most intense attacks in the Pokrovske direction.
