Two 16-year-old russian boys allegedly set fire to a military Mi-8 helicopter at a base in Omsk.
Launched Molotov Cocktail
This act of vandalism was reportedly incentivized by a mysterious figure who contacted them via Telegram, promising a reward of $20,000 for their actions. However, after successfully executing the plan, the boys received no money, and the contact disappeared, erasing all messages.
According to Ukrainian media sources citing Russian publications, the teenagers gained access to the airbase on a Saturday night, where they launched a Molotov cocktail at the helicopter, completely destroying it, according to Ziare.
Shortly thereafter, authorities apprehended the suspects, who revealed their interaction with the unknown individual on Telegram.
Lured by Flyers
This incident marks the second occurrence of its kind in September alone. Earlier in the month, on September 11, another group of students in Noyabrsk similarly targeted a Mi-8 helicopter, using flammable liquids to ignite it.
Reports suggest that these students were lured through flyers distributed in school bathrooms, containing QR codes that led to prompts encouraging acts of arson in exchange for financial rewards.
These flyers were later found in various schools across Russia, raising concerns about organized recruitment efforts targeting young individuals.
As these bizarre incidents unfold, they highlight a troubling trend of youth involvement in anti-government activities.
With the potential for financial gain and apparent anonymity through digital communication, young people are becoming unwitting participants in actions that could have serious consequences, both legally and socially.
