School and Kindergarten Damaged by Nighttime Drone Attack

A nighttime drone attack on Odesa on November 8 caused significant damage.

A drone attack on Odesa during the early hours of November 8 caused large-scale damage to a local school and kindergarten, according to a statement from the Odesa City Council shared on Telegram. This development war reported by Ukrinform.

School No. 125, which serves around 500 students, along with a kindergarten attended by 60 children in the same building, was heavily impacted by the blast wave.

The attack shattered 120 windows across 30 classrooms, damaged 30 doors, and partially compromised the heating and electrical systems.

The damage extended to classroom furniture, with 100 desks and 200 chairs destroyed. In addition, 30 ceilings sustained damage due to the explosion.

Olena Buinevich, head of the Ministry of Education’s Department of Education, stated that efforts are underway to restore the heating system. The kindergarten is expected to reopen on Monday, November 11.

Students will attend remote classes for a week, with plans to return to in-person learning on November 18.

Classes will be held in two shifts in the less-damaged section of the school, while repairs to the hardest-hit areas are scheduled through November and into January.

Additionally, reports indicate that six people were hospitalized following the drone strike in the Odesa district. Tragically, a 46-year-old man driving at the time of the attack lost his life due to shrapnel injuries.
