International conflicts often rely on external support, and any change in assistance can have serious consequences. Military aid can influence the course of a war, impacting both the defending and attacking forces.
Nations receiving support depend on a steady flow of weapons, equipment, and supplies to sustain their defenses.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the United States has not stopped military aid to Ukraine.
His statement followed an announcement from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who recently declared a temporary 90-day suspension of foreign aid. Zelensky did not specify whether humanitarian aid was affected.
Future Remains Uncertain
The United States provides roughly 40 percent of Ukraine’s military needs.
Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv alongside Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Zelensky expressed gratitude that military assistance remains uninterrupted.
The future of U.S. support remains uncertain as Donald Trump begins his second term as president, according to Ziare.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that Ukraine’s invasion by Russia would not have happened under his leadership.
He has also suggested that Zelensky should have negotiated with Russian President Vladimir Putin to prevent the war.
Trump recently told Fox News that Ukraine should reach a deal with Russia. At the same time, he has threatened to impose new tariffs and sanctions on Moscow if an agreement to end the war is not reached soon.
Zelensky stated that he has had positive discussions with Trump and believes the U.S. president will push for an end to the war.
He stressed that any peace agreement must involve Ukraine directly. He argued that without Ukraine’s participation, no deal would be effective, as Russia has shown no interest in ending the war.
Both Ukraine and Russia continue to fight for strategic gains to strengthen their positions in any potential negotiations.
Russian forces have been intensifying their offensive in the Donetsk region for over a year, forcing Ukraine to retreat from several towns and villages.
Over the weekend, Russian forces launched missile and drone attacks on Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted most of the incoming threats, but civilian casualties were reported in Russian-occupied areas of Kherson.
