Operators from the 14th Battalion of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, part of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, played a key role in directing rocket artillery fire at a Russian convoy of trucks in the Donetsk region.
The battalion’s press service released footage showing the Russian convoy stopping by the roadside. Instead of dispersing, the vehicles remained grouped together, providing a clear target.
"An entire enemy convoy halted by the road. It's unclear why—perhaps the commander stepped out for a smoke or a vehicle broke down. Regardless, several trucks were clustered in one location," the battalion reported.
The video confirmed that both cluster munitions and conventional ammunition were used in the strike. It is believed that M30 rockets, fired from the M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System), were deployed.
"Our operators took the opportunity to give the enemy a lesson in military logistics: convoys should never stop midway, and ideally, they should spread out their equipment. The Russians received a heavy barrage," the battalion added.
HIMARS Combat Operations
Militarnyi previously reported that Ukrainian rocket artillery and air forces targeted a Russian command post in the Zaporizhzhia region. In addition to hitting the command post, the location of Russian troops was also struck.
The attack involved the M142 HIMARS rocket system and GBU-39 bombs.
On September 23, it was also reported that the 413th Battalion of Unmanned Systems, working alongside the 778th Airborne Assault Regiment, successfully targeted a Russian Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system with HIMARS in the Kursk oblast.
Footage showed the TEL (Transporter Erector Launcher) attempting to fire at an air target before receiving an almost direct hit from a GMLRS (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System) missile as it tried to flee its position.
