Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) and resistance forces have reportedly sabotaged a critical railway bridge in Berdiansk, an occupied port city on the Sea of Azov, disrupting a major transport route used by Russian forces.

Crucial Logistics Hub

According to a report by The Kyiv Independent, the bridge, located between the Vodokanal utility building and a car wash on Skhidnyi Boulevard, was destroyed after multiple nighttime explosions.

The city of Berdiansk, under Russian control since early 2022, has been a crucial logistics hub.

Positioned along key supply routes, it allows Russian forces to move stolen Ukrainian grain and essential supplies like fuel, weapons, and ammunition to support the ongoing invasion, according to Digi24.

Ukrainian intelligence sources claim that the bridge's destruction has significantly affected Russian logistics, limiting Moscow’s ability to reinforce its troops in the area.

Weakening Supply Lines

Local Ukrainian authorities announced the explosions via Telegram, stating that the damage to the rail bridge has temporarily severed Berdiansk’s railway link with Russia.

This act of sabotage represents a strategic move by Ukrainian forces to weaken Russian supply lines in occupied territories, as Russian troops have relied heavily on Berdiansk for transporting military resources.

However, Russian state media dismissed the reports as “blatant disinformation,” attributing the explosions to routine military drills rather than sabotage.

Russian sources further stated that all bridges in Berdiansk remained intact, though Ukrainian sources continue to insist otherwise. According to Ukrinform, Ukrainian officials dispute Russia’s claims, pointing to a lack of any visual confirmation from either side, leaving the full extent of the damage unverified.
