On November 26, Ukraine successfully defended against a record-breaking assault by Russian forces, which included ballistic missile strikes and the largest number of drones launched in a single attack to date.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram the operation involved 192 airborne threats, including 4 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 188 drones.
The assault began on the evening of November 25, with aerial strikes originating from multiple regions in Russia, including Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Ukrainian air defenses sprang into action, deploying anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire teams to counter the barrage.
By 9:00 am on November 26, Ukrainian forces had intercepted 76 drones across numerous regions, including Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Mykolaiv.
Additionally, 95 drones were disrupted using electronic warfare measures, forcing five to retreat toward Belarus.
The attack caused damage to critical infrastructure and residential areas in several regions, though no casualties or injuries were reported in this assault.
Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage.
This latest attack follows a deadly Russian strike in Sumy earlier in the week, where a Shahed drone armed with a shrapnel warhead killed two people and injured 12 others.
