Soldiers from Ukraine’s 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade forced Russian soldiers out of captured positions in the Donetsk region.
A video documenting the operation was shared on the brigade’s official Telegram page.
The Russian forces had initially seized one of the buildings in a settlement, attempting to strengthen their foothold using small groups. However, quick action from drone operators in the brigade's 2nd Mechanized Battalion turned the tide.
The battalion deployed FPV drones to drop explosives, applying intense pressure that disrupted the enemy’s attempts to fortify their positions.
As a result, the Russian troops began to flee in a disorganized manner, attempting to escape the drone strikes. Despite the chaos, Ukrainian forces managed to capture several disoriented Russian soldiers.
This recent success follows a similar victory in late September 2024, when troops from the 30th Brigade repelled a Russian motorcycle assault in the same region. In that attack, Russian forces attempted to rapidly approach Ukrainian positions using motorcycles, a tactic that has become more common.
According to a report by Militarnyi, out of 14 attacking motorcycles, 8 were destroyed during the battle.
The use of motorcycles for rapid assaults has grown in popularity among Russian forces.
Their maneuverability allows troops to quickly close in on enemy positions and enter trenches while offering some protection against FPV drones and conventional weapons. Motorcycle units are often used alone or in combination with mechanized attacks. However, when detected early, these groups can suffer heavy losses from Ukrainian fire.
