Near the Ukrainian city of Kurakhove in Donetsk, Ukrainian fortifications known as "dragon's teeth" successfully delayed an armored advance by Russian forces.

These anti-tank barriers, reinforced by artillery fire and attack drones from the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade, stopped a Russian armored column attempting to bypass through fields from the occupied Maksimilianivka toward Kurakhove.

The "dragon's teeth" line—concrete obstacles designed to halt tanks and armored vehicles—proved effective only when backed by Ukrainian firepower.

As one Russian tank reached the fortifications, it was forced to stop and engage Ukrainian artillery, which was soon joined by FPV attack drones targeting the vehicle.

Effective defense of these anti-tank barriers relies on the presence of troops and additional firepower; without supporting forces, these barriers alone may not withstand armored breakthroughs.

To enhance defense, "dragon's teeth" are often paired with minefields and wire fences, and, ideally, should be partially embedded in the ground for maximum stability, though they are usually placed on the surface in this conflict.

Similar defensive measures have been used elsewhere in the conflict. In September, Ukrainian ground forces in the Kursk region repelled a Russian mechanized offensive using captured Russian defenses.
