Ukrainian authorities reported Russian attacks in two eastern regions on Saturday morning, just days after Kyiv launched a massive drone assault on Russian territory.

The nationwide air raid alert was issued shortly before 7:00 AM local time (5:00 AM GMT), according to AFP.

Oleh Syniehubov, governor of the Kharkiv region—an important city near Ukraine's eastern border with Russia—confirmed "enemy attacks" on two settlements. He stated that damage assessments were ongoing.

The strike has left a smaller area entirely without power.

Energy Infrastructure Has Been Destroyed

In the central Poltava region, an unspecified attack damaged energy infrastructure, cutting power to 164 households, according to local military authorities.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Ukraine’s official air raid alert map briefly covered the entire country, signaling widespread danger.

On Telegram, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of a "missile threat in all alert-designated areas."

Specifically, they reported a risk of missile strikes in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions (south), drone activity over several northeastern regions, and a potential "ballistic weapon threat from the northeast."

This latest wave of Russian attacks comes just days after Kyiv launched one of its largest drone assaults against Russian territory on Tuesday night. That strike killed a child and his mother and set fire to an oil refinery.

As Russia’s invasion enters its fourth year this February, Moscow’s forces continue to advance in eastern Ukraine, while Kyiv’s troops struggle to push back.

The prospect of negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv is increasingly discussed, particularly as former U.S. President Donald Trump’s possible return looms as a potential turning point in the war.

Trump has been critical of U.S. spending to support Ukraine, yet has also taken a tough stance on Moscow, recently threatening additional sanctions.
