Ukrainian artillery units from the 44th Artillery Brigade of the "West" Operational Command successfully destroyed several high-value Russian military assets in just one day.

The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed that the brigade eliminated two BM-27 Uragan artillery systems, two self-propelled guns, and another critical target, showcasing the effectiveness of Ukraine’s artillery capabilities.

The 44th Brigade, which plays a key role in Ukraine's defense, is equipped with M777 howitzers, a British-made 155mm artillery system originally designed for the U.S. military, according to WP.

These howitzers have become a crucial component of Ukraine’s counteroffensive efforts. Since the full-scale Russian invasion began, the U.S. has sent approximately 100 M777 units to Ukraine, with additional supplies coming from other NATO allies.

One of the howitzers used by the brigade in this recent success bears the inscription "From America with Love," indicating its U.S. origins.

Two BM-27 Uragan Artillery Systems Eliminated

The M777 is a lightweight towed howitzer, weighing 3,773 kg and requiring a crew of seven soldiers to operate. In transport mode, it measures 9.5 meters in length, but when fully deployed for combat, it stretches to over 10 meters.

Despite its relatively lightweight design, the M777 packs a powerful punch. Its barrel, measuring 39 calibers in length, gives it a range of 24 km with standard high-explosive shells.

With rocket-assisted projectiles, the range can extend to 30 km, while precision-guided M982 Excalibur rounds allow the M777 to strike targets up to 40 km away. It can fire up to five rounds per minute, making it highly effective in rapid engagement scenarios.

Among the Russian targets eliminated were two BM-27 Uragan artillery systems, which are self-propelled multiple-launch rocket systems mounted on a ZIL-135LM truck chassis. These systems feature 16 rocket launchers and are capable of moving at speeds of up to 65 km/h, making them a fast-moving and dangerous threat.

The successful destruction of these high-value targets demonstrates the critical role that modern NATO-supplied weaponry, such as the M777, is playing in Ukraine’s ongoing defense efforts.

The precision and power of these artillery systems have allowed Ukrainian forces to effectively counter Russian advances, significantly weakening Russian capabilities on the battlefield.
