During a hunting trip in Russia's Kaluga region, close to Moscow, a group of Russian hunters had an unexpected encounter with a Ukrainian drone flying over the area.
Firing Rounds at Drone
Surprised by the drone, the hunters attempted to shoot it down, firing rounds in its direction. Despite their efforts, the drone continued on its path, unaffected by the gunfire, according to Digi24.
The incident was caught on video and shared on Russian social media. It was later picked up by Ukrainian sources.
WarTranslated, a channel that monitors information related to the Ukraine conflict, described the footage as humorous.
The channel noted that the hunters used shotgun pellets in an attempt to bring down the drone but did not succeed.
Surge in Drone Activity
The drone's flyover reflects the growing use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the conflict. In recent days, Russia and Ukraine have engaged in some of the largest drone operations seen in the war so far.
Over the weekend, Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported intercepting 84 Ukrainian drones in six regions, including areas near Moscow.
This surge in drone activity even forced the temporary rerouting of flights at three major Moscow airports to ensure passenger safety.
On the other side, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched 145 drones across Ukraine on Saturday night alone.
Most of these were intercepted by Ukrainian defenses. The incident with the hunters is a small but telling reminder of how drones have become a regular part of the battlefield.
These drones are used for surveillance, targeted attacks, and even psychological impact. While the hunters’ gunfire had no effect, their encounter shows how drones are now an everyday part of life, even in remote areas.
