Ukrainian drones targeted and ignited two fuel depots in the Krasnodar region of southern Russia overnight on Friday.

Fire in Fuel Depots

According to Ziare the attacks, reported by regional authorities on Saturday, occurred near the illegally annexed Crimean Peninsula, which Russia seized from Ukraine in 2014.

According to emergency services quoted by EFE, civil installations across several municipalities in Krasnodar were hit during the night of July 5 to 6.

Emergency services disclosed that while the drones were successfully intercepted, remnants from the interceptions caused fires at two fuel depots. The exact capacity of the affected depots has not been specified as of yet.

Shot Down Drones

The consequences of the nighttime assault extended beyond the depots. A mobile phone tower in the city of Eisk along the Sea of Azov coast also sustained damage.

Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry reported its air defense systems shot down seven Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over the Kursk region and one over Belgorod region on the same night.

Both regions share borders with Ukraine and have been subject to frequent drone and artillery attacks.
