On a battlefield where precision and survival are everything, reckless moves stand out.

Ukrainian forces fighting near Russia’s Kursk region have witnessed an unusual sight — North Korean soldiers displaying shockingly untrained and chaotic behavior.

Their movements, tracked by drones, have left Ukrainian troops both baffled and stunned, according to Ziare.

These North Korean units, sent by Moscow, appear unaware of modern warfare's harsh realities.

Ukrainian forces noticed them running across open fields, entirely exposed to drones, artillery, and other weapons.

No Attempt to Seek Cover

The commander of a Ukrainian drone unit, known by the call sign Boxer, couldn’t believe what he was seeing. “Nord-Koreans traverse in running groups across fields.

They don’t seem to understand what’s happening,” he said. Watching them from above, Ukrainian troops immediately recognized that these soldiers were not Russians.

Their reckless movements, which lacked any attempt to seek cover, gave them away.

“They were perfect targets for FPV drones and artillery. We’ve never seen anything like it — 40 to 50 soldiers running across open terrain. Russians don’t move like that,” Boxer added.

A drone operator named Artem confirmed similar observations. His team watched three groups of North Korean troops crossing from Russian positions.

Each group carried backpacks, likely filled with ammunition and supplies. Instead of ducking for safety when targeted, many soldiers kept marching or firing indiscriminately.

“Immediately, drones and bombers were sent their way,” Artem explained. “Some kept shooting, others just kept walking until they were hit.”

Their reactions — or lack of them — have puzzled Ukrainian forces. Artem described a specific drone strike where three soldiers appeared on thermal cameras. The team expected survivors to scatter. “But they didn’t move. It felt like a computer simulation,” he said.

The presence of North Korean troops in Russia has already drawn international scrutiny. U.S. officials have confirmed their deployment, raising concerns about further escalation. Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder stated: “We believe North Korean soldiers have participated in combat operations. There are casualties among them, including fatalities.”

While the exact scale of North Korean involvement remains unclear, their chaotic tactics highlight their unfamiliarity with modern warfare. Ukrainian soldiers, experienced in Russia’s evolving strategies, remain both shocked and wary.

For now, their disorganized approach has made them vulnerable. But for Ukrainian forces, this unpredictability is another reason to stay on high alert. “It’s bizarre,” Boxer concluded. “We’ve never seen anything like it before.”
