Ukraine has launched a significant attack on a Russian missile and ammunition depot in Volgograd using 120 explosive drones, according to the Ukrainian military.

Iranian Rockets Just Delivered

The operation, conducted jointly by Ukraine’s military intelligence (GUR), security services (SBU), and armed forces, struck the facility in Kotluban, Volgograd.

The depot, located more than 600 kilometers (373 miles) from Ukraine, housed missiles and ammunition, with reports stating that Iranian-made rockets had been delivered just a day before the strike, according to Ziare.

Although Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed to have intercepted 125 drones, 67 of which were reportedly shot down over Volgograd, Ukraine considers the operation a success. Kyiv believes the destruction of this key supply hub will reduce ammunition available to Russian forces.

No Casualties

Despite Ukraine’s reports, Russian authorities have not provided official statements about the extent of the damage.

The Russian governor of Volgograd, Andrei Bocharov, stated that there were no casualties or damage from the strike. However, pro-Russian sources, including the Telegram channel Rybar, confirmed multiple explosions near Kotluban, where the Russian Ministry of Defense stores its missile and artillery supplies.

This latest drone strike is part of Ukraine’s ongoing strategy to target Russia’s military infrastructure, a direct response to daily Russian bombardments that have continued since the invasion began over two years ago.
