Ukrainian Navy Destroys Russian Military Ferry Supplying Crimea

Transported Fuel

According to L'Independent, the ferry was near the port of Kavkaz, located close to the occupied region of Crimea.

The ferry was reportedly used for transporting fuel and weapons to support Russian military operations in Crimea. In the attack, it was set ablaze before ultimately sinking in the port.

Dmytro Pletentchouk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, stated, “Another target that is unquestionably military has been destroyed.”

His comments underscore Ukraine’s commitment to targeting Russian logistics and supply lines, aiming to weaken the military presence in the region.

A Key Transit Point

Local authorities in the Krasnodar region had previously reported the attack and confirmed that the ferry was carrying approximately 30 tanks of fuel at the time.

Fyodor Babenkov, the head of the Temriouk district, emphasized the strategic significance of the Kavkaz port, which serves as a key transit point for vessels exporting goods and supplying fuel to Crimea.

Since its annexation in 2014, Crimea has been a focal point of military operations and strategic interest for both nations.
