Ukrainian forces have begun using Shark UAVs equipped with advanced night-vision technology to strike Russian targets during nighttime operations.

The FLIGHT CLUB unit, part of Ukraine's 92nd Separate Assault Brigade, shared footage showing multiple successful hits on various Russian targets, including tanks, artillery, and infantry on motorcycles.

The strikes took place over a ten-day period in August.

According to Militarnyi, they were made possible by Shark drones from Ukrspecsystems, a Ukrainian defense company. These drones are equipped with advanced cameras, including a 30X daytime Full HD camera and a thermal imaging camera for nighttime operations.

The specially designed USG-231T thermal imaging camera, developed by Ukrspecsystems, allows the Shark drone to capture high-quality footage in low light or complete darkness. The camera’s lightweight, gyro-stabilized system makes it ideal for use on fixed-wing drones like the Shark, enhancing its ability to track and target enemy positions effectively at night.

Ukrspecsystems has also developed the USG-261T night vision sensor for smaller drones and multicopters, providing Ukraine’s forces with even more flexibility in nighttime operations.

This technology has proven to be a game-changer for Ukrainian troops, enabling them to target Russian forces more effectively after dark.

Ukrspecsystems has partnered with Poland’s ALS Systems, granting them licenses to produce SHARK, MINI SHARK, and PD-2 reconnaissance drones for the defense efforts of both nations.
