The Ukrainian Defense Intelligence (GUR) has reported significant successes in using drones to strike key military targets within Russia.

Hit Hangar at Factory

According to Defense Romania and WP, Ukrainian UJ-26 Bobr drones have played a crucial role in these operations. The recent strikes reportedly hit a hangar at the Taganrog factory, which housed a crucial early-warning aircraft, the A-50 Shmel, a Su-57 fighter jet, and the Voronezh radar system.

The Ukrainian GUR highlighted the effectiveness of the Bobr drones, stating:

“The A-50 stationed at Taganrog, the Su-57, and Putin’s pride—the Voronezh radar—were all rendered useless by the Bobrs.”

Despite their seemingly innocuous name, Bobrs pose a serious threat to Russian military assets. These drones, produced by Ukroboronprom, are among the most advanced available and are capable of flying 800 to 1,000 kilometers, enabling them to target distant objectives within Russian territory.

Designed for Kamikaze Attacks

The Bobr drones, designed for kamikaze attacks, can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h thanks to their turbo-prop engine.

With a length of 2.5 meters and a wingspan of 3.5 meters, these drones can carry up to 75 kg of payload, including the KZ-6 penetration warhead. Their advanced navigation systems ensure precise targeting.

Notably, some Bobr drones are painted black, a camouflage strategy for nighttime operations. This dark coloration helps reduce visibility, making it harder for enemy defenses to detect and neutralize the drones.
