Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made a fervent appeal to American politicians, urging them to support Ukraine without waiting for the outcome of the upcoming U.S. presidential elections.
Everyone is Waiting for November
According to Lenta his call to action follows the NATO summit held in Washington, as reported by Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
"Everyone is waiting for November, in the U.S., in Europe, in the Middle East, in the Pacific region, the whole world is waiting for November," stated Zelensky, highlighting the widespread anticipation surrounding the U.S. elections.
Zelensky emphasized that the delay in support could benefit Moscow, allowing Russia to exploit the period leading up to the American electoral cycle to its advantage. He called on U.S. politicians to step out from the shadows and actively work to "protect Ukrainian democracy from [Russian President Vladimir] Putin."
Biden Announces Supply
In the wake of his appeal, President Joe Biden announced that the U.S. and its NATO allies, including Germany, Romania, Italy, and the Netherlands, will soon begin supplying Ukraine with "dozens of Western air defense systems."
This move is part of a broader effort to bolster Ukraine's defenses amid ongoing conflicts.
The urgency in Zelensky's message underscores the critical situation in Ukraine and the need for timely international assistance. By addressing the American political landscape directly, Zelensky hopes to expedite support and prevent further strategic advantages for Russia.
